Human Resource Management
CASE STUDY (20 Marks)
The client is a leading investment
management and investment services company. With headquarters in New York, it
has $26.3 trillion in assets under custody or administration and $1.3 trillion
under management. The company recently experienced major organization change
and was looking to grow its human resources division as well as invest heavily
in a long-term occupational health and employee wellbeing strategy. To drive
the new strategy, the client needed to recruit a benefits & wellbeing
associate within a relatively tight time frame. The role was highly specialized
with only a small number of suitably qualified candidates in the market.
Finding someone suitable, and fast, was going to be a particularly challenging
task. The client needed a recruitment agency that could effectively deliver on
brief and meet their expectations. It initially approached a number of agencies
who could potentially help them with its requirement, including Hudson. Hudson
quickly realized that the standard day-to-day recruitment approach wasn’t sufficient
to fill this particular role and therefore looked into alternative solutions.
Hudson was aware that other agencies briefed by the client were having
difficulty finding the right caliber of professional for the role. The Hudson
consultant, however, was able to demonstrate an effective method of sourcing
candidates, and on the strength of Hudson’s relationship with the client, it
was suggested that the recruitment assignment was delivered on a retained
basis. Working in this way allowed Hudson to work closely with the client’s HR
Manager and define a targeted advertising and search approach to closely match
requirements. This included advertisements on a leading health and wellbeing
website in conjunction with other HR platforms. A branded e-shot to drive responses
was also sent out and this was successful in attracting some highly-skilled
candidates. Despite the difficulty with attracting strong candidates, Hudson
maintained a first-class service throughout the entire process and the role was
filled within the three weeks. This adhered to a pre-agreed time-frame for
presentation of all shortlist candidates and interview slots. The candidate appointed
for the role not only had strong experience, but was also a good cultural fit.
The client was extremely pleased with the level of service provided. Since this
particular assignment, Hudson has successfully placed a number of other
candidates within this company on a retained and contingent basis. Hudson is
currently one of its top providers for HR professional recruitment.
